Hi Camerin, I'd love to read your thoughts on the book when you finish it. I thought the writing was fantastic--as many reviews have said, the voices are pitch-perfect. And Skeeter is a great character for all of us single girls to empathize with; I'm sure that in the 1960s, 22 felt more like 35 when you were not married. I would just say about the book that as a black woman, I was disappointed that the only character that seems to have any real prospects at the end of the story is Skeeter--she gets to go off to NYC and live her dream of working in publishing/writing. More realistic than a fabulous resolution for the black characters, too, perhaps, but still disappointing. And then of course, there's the issue of the maids being given voice only because Skeeter has noticed them. But that's another discussion... On another note, I love your writing and am so glad you've got a forum to share it with the world again. God's best to you today and in the future.
